Performive

A mid-market specialist running multi-tenant and dedicated vSphere clouds with managed services baked into the price, and some of the most aggressive pricing among VMware-based providers. Frequently the bid that keeps everyone else honest.

Overview

Performive (formerly Total Server Solutions) is an Atlanta-based cloud provider that deliberately targets the mid-market with VMware-based infrastructure. Its platform offerings are straightforward: multi-tenant VMware cloud for cost-efficient shared capacity, and dedicated private vSphere environments for customers needing isolation or custom configurations.

The commercial model bundles managed services, 24×7 support, security tooling, backup, and DR options, into the infrastructure price rather than itemizing each. Combined with a lean cost structure, Performive consistently produces some of the lowest VMware-cloud pricing in competitive bids we run, often landing well below Broadcom-direct renewal economics for comparable capacity (treat any specific percentage as estimate-only until quoted).

Because the platform is pure vSphere, migration mechanics are simple: replicate and cut over, keep your tooling, no hypervisor retraining. Performive's engineering teams are accustomed to mid-market environments, a few hosts to a few racks, and the company's white-glove migration assistance is a regular point of positive feedback.

The constraints are scale-related. Performive is not a national colo platform, does not offer the global delivery of a Rackspace, and very large or highly regulated enterprise estates may exhaust its sweet spot. For the 20–500 VM organization staring at a brutal renewal, though, it is one of the most efficient escapes available.

Why consider Performive for a VMware exit

Broadcom's bundle minimums hit the mid-market hardest, and Performive is purpose-built for exactly that segment: vSphere environments small enough to be unprofitable for Broadcom's direct motion, but core to the businesses running them.

Its pricing posture also makes it valuable even when it does not win, a Performive bid in your stack of proposals reliably improves everyone else's final number.

Honest pros and cons

Strengths

  • Among the most aggressive VMware-cloud pricing in the market
  • Pure vSphere platform, zero re-tooling, fast migrations
  • Managed services, support, and security bundled rather than itemized
  • Mid-market focus: white-glove migration help and accessible engineers
  • Dedicated private vSphere available when isolation or custom specs matter

Weaknesses

  • Smaller brand and footprint than national providers; do your facility diligence
  • Not built for very large enterprise estates or complex global topologies
  • No meaningful colocation path for owned hardware
  • Fewer adjacent services (DaaS, hyperscaler management) than broader competitors

Who Performive fits

Best fit if you are…

  • You run 20–500 VMs and your renewal quote jumped 3–5×
  • Price is a primary decision driver but you still want vSphere and managed support
  • You want a provider where mid-market customers are the main business, not the long tail
  • You value bundled, predictable pricing over à la carte line items

Probably not a fit if you are…

  • You need global delivery, colo, or deep compliance attestations at enterprise scale
  • Your environment exceeds ~500–1,000 VMs with complex dependencies
  • You need DaaS or hyperscaler management from the same vendor

Our verdict

The value bid. For mid-market vSphere estates, Performive routinely delivers the lowest credible "stay on VMware" number, always worth including, if only to discipline the rest of the shortlist.
