MSP partner program

Your customer's VMware renewal tripled. Don't let that be the reason they meet another MSP.

Bring us in as your infrastructure bench. We source and manage the VMware migration alongside you, you stay the primary relationship, and you get paid a residual referral commission on whatever they sign. We do not sell managed services, so there is nothing of yours for us to take.

The risk

The renewal is not the threat. The RFP it triggers is.

Across the 60+ VMware renewal quotes Bridgepointe advisors reviewed between 2024 and 2026, increases landed at 2–5× the prior term. For your customer that is a budget emergency. For you it is the moment the account goes into play.

The number lands on the CFO's desk, not the IT manager's.
A 3× line item gets executive attention, and executive attention comes with the question "who else could we talk to about this?"
Your customer starts calling providers directly.
Every hosting provider, hyperscaler reseller, and HCI vendor has a Broadcom displacement play and a rep ready to run a discovery call. Several of them bundle managed services.
A competing MSP shows up with a migration practice.
This is how accounts change hands. Not on your ticket response times, on the one project you were not staffed to lead.
Saying "we'll look into it" costs you 60 days you don't have.
Sourcing a platform, pricing 5 providers, and planning a cutover is a full evaluation cycle. Renewal clocks rarely leave room for a slow start.
Doing it yourself means eating the cost.
Provider selection, contract negotiation, and migration architecture are billable-free work for most MSPs. It is real hours against a project you may not win.
How it works

You make one introduction. We do the heavy lifting under your name.

1

You flag the account 5 minutes

Send us the customer name, rough VM count, and renewal date. We sign the referral agreement first, so the commission split and the customer protections are in writing before anyone talks to your client.

  • No fee, no minimum volume, no exclusivity
  • Account registered to you, so a later inbound from the same company still credits back
  • You choose whether we are introduced as your partner or stay entirely behind the scenes
2

We build the roadmap, you present it Within 48 hours

A Bridgepointe advisor scopes the environment and produces a written comparison of the top 2–3 realistic paths with cost ranges, complexity ratings, and a phased timeline. It goes to you first. If you would rather deliver it as your own recommendation, that is fine with us.

  • Stay on VMware through a lower-cost provider is always priced
  • Broadcom renewal negotiation and bridge extensions included
  • Compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, CMMC) factored in from the start
3

Providers compete, you sit on your customer's side 2–4 weeks

We run the sourcing across 380+ supplier contracts and bring back real competing proposals. You are on every call. Your customer watches you produce pricing and leverage they could not have gotten alone, which is exactly the position you want to be in at renewal time.

  • Apples-to-apples comparison built by the advisor, not by the vendors
  • Contract and SLA negotiation handled on the buyer's side
  • You keep veto power over which providers are approached
4

They sign, you get paid, the account stays yours Ongoing

The provider pays Bridgepointe a commission out of its own margin, and you receive your agreed share of it every month for as long as the contract runs. Your customer pays the same or less than going direct. Once the migration is live, we step back to escalation duty and you go on running the environment.

  • Residual, not a one-time spiff, it pays for the life of the contract
  • Your managed services wrap around the new platform, often at a higher seat or host count
  • We stay reachable for the next renewal, and the one after that

The part that matters

We have nothing to sell that competes with you.

Every MSP that has been burned by a "partnership" was burned the same way: the partner had a managed services line item and eventually used it. Bridgepointe does not have one. We are a technology advisory, a buyer-side firm that sources infrastructure contracts and gets paid by the supplier. We do not run helpdesks, we do not sell monitoring or backup administration, and we do not staff NOCs.

That is not a promise of good behavior, it is the shape of the business model. The recurring revenue you own is revenue we have no product to replace.

On top of that, four rules are written into the referral agreement:

  • We do not contact your customer without you. You are on the thread or the call, every time.
  • We do not solicit outside the project. No cross-selling your account into telecom, security, or anything else unless you ask us to.
  • You can end it at any point. If it stops feeling right, the engagement stops and the registration stands.
  • Registration protects you. If your customer later comes to us directly, the account is already flagged to you and the commission still routes your way.

What you walk away with

Four things, none of which cost you anything.

A residual referral commission

Paid monthly out of the provider's margin for as long as your customer stays. Your customer's price does not change.

A migration bench you don't have to hire

Advisors who have priced this exact decision 60+ times, plus 380+ supplier contracts, on call for one account or twenty.

A customer who stops shopping

They got competitive pricing and a straight answer, through you. That closes the door the renewal opened.

One less door for a competing MSP

The migration project is the wedge competitors use. Own it, and there is no gap for them to fill.

Fit check

Worth a conversation if this sounds like you.

  • You run managed services for customers with on-prem VMware and no in-house colo or cloud sourcing practice.
  • You have customers whose renewal lands in the next 12 months and you have not opened the conversation yet.
  • You can architect and support the environment, but pricing five providers against each other is not what you want your engineers doing.
  • You have already lost, or nearly lost, an account over an infrastructure project you were not staffed to lead.
  • You want a referral relationship with a firm that has no managed services line to grow into.
Best-fit customers

25 to 2,000 VMs.

Roughly $30k or more in annual VMware spend. Large enough that the Broadcom increase forces a decision, small enough that Broadcom is not fighting to keep them. Bigger environments are welcome, the sourcing leverage matters more at that size, not less.

Not sure whether a specific account qualifies? Send it over. A no from us costs you nothing and takes a day.

Partner questions

The things MSPs ask before the first referral.

Will you try to take over my managed services contract?

No. We do not sell managed services, helpdesk, monitoring, or backup administration. Bridgepointe sources infrastructure contracts and is paid by suppliers. Your recurring revenue is the one thing we have nothing to sell against.

How does the referral commission actually work?

The provider your customer selects pays Bridgepointe a commission out of its own margin, and you receive an agreed share. It is residual, so it pays monthly for as long as they stay on the contract. The split is agreed in writing before we speak to your customer, and your customer never pays more because you referred them.

Do you contact my customer directly?

Only with you on the thread or the call. You decide how the introduction is made, you are copied on everything, and you can end the engagement at any point. We never solicit a referred customer for anything outside the project you brought us.

What if the right answer is to stay on VMware?

Then that is what we tell them, and it is a common outcome. Staying on VMware through a lower-cost provider, or negotiating the Broadcom renewal down, still results in a contract and still pays. More on renewal negotiation →

Do I have to sign an exclusive agreement?

No. No exclusivity, no minimum volume, no fee. Refer one customer or twenty. The paperwork is a short referral agreement covering the commission split and the customer protections.

Who is actually behind this?

Bridgepointe Technologies, a technology advisory founded in 2002 in San Mateo, California, with 380+ supplier contracts and 12,000+ organizations advised. More about the firm →
